Relate is a national charity that helps couples, families and individuals to make their relationships work better.
They offer advice, relationship counselling, family counselling, young people’s counselling, sex therapy, workshops, mediation, consultations and support. They can do this face-to-face, by phone and online. You can see more about these services on their website. Please be aware that they do charge for some of their services.
Relate’s website also includes information and resources on a wide range of topics related to relationships, including a section to help support people whose mental health is affecting their relationships.
They also have counsellors who have trained with them and work for them under licence. You can use their online directory to find those nearest you. These counsellors work in private practices and set their own fees.
Relate has centres across the UK. Sheffield is covered by their Sheffield and Wakefield Centre. You will normally be expected to pay a fee for counselling at a Relate centre. Some Relate centres offer subsidised counselling sessions and the children and young people’s counselling is often free.
