RABI is a charity providing practical, financial and emotional support to farming people across England and Wales.

They have a range of services designed to respond to individual circumstances, offering structured, professional support when it is needed. They work directly with farming people to understand their situation and provide tailored guidance.

Helpline

RABI’s helpline provides a confidential route to access support. This includes mental health and wellbeing support, advice on benefit entitlements, access to financial support, and referrals to appropriate services.

The helpline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 0800 188 4444.

The support they can offer includes:

Mental Health and Wellbeing

In recognition of the positive difference that talking to someone who understands the issues you face can make, RABI provide mental health counselling for farming people. Their counselling service is free and no referral is needed. Counselling is provided over the phone or by video call. To access their counselling you can call their helpline number (0800 188 4444) or email [email protected]

Alternatively you can use their Click & Chat service. This platform provides safe, anonymous, text-based counselling, peer-to-peer chat groups, and helpful articles on mental wellbeing. They have 2 platforms you can access depending on your age:

  • Kooth for young people aged 11 to 17
  • Qwell for adults aged 18+

Mental Health Training

It can be difficult to have the confidence to start conversations about mental health with family, friends, colleagues, customers or clients. If you want to learn more about how to support yourself and others, then they provide mental health training courses.

There are 3 levels of farming-focused training available, including half-day, one-day and two-day courses. They will cover:

  • Understanding common mental health conditions
  • Recognising signs and symptoms
  • How to support others to access the support they need
  • Looking after our own mental health

You can book for yourself and/or your team. The sessions can be provided in-person or online. Visit their Mental Health Training page for details of how to book.

Financial Support and Grants

RABI provide support to low-income farming people with their personal finances, as well as all eligible farming people during times of financial crisis. Details of support available can be found on their Financial Support and Grants webpage.

Information, Advice and Guidance

Information and advice is available around benefits, state welfare system, housing, financial budgeting and debt relief. They liaise with and refer to third parties, and work in conjunction and collaboration with other voluntary, professional and statutory services. Their information, advice and guidance can be accessed via their helpline: phone 0800 188 4444 or email [email protected]
