Pathways to Work is a free employment service for people aged 16 and over in Sheffield. It helps unemployed and “economically inactive” people move into sustainable work. The service is provided by Reed in Partnership.
Every participant is matched with an expert Employment Adviser who provides one-to-one guidance. The support is person-centred, starting with an assessment of the individual’s skills, interests, and ambitions to create a tailored plan for moving forward. Most support is face-to-face, however you also have access to online resources.
The service provides a range of support, including:
- Health and Wellbeing: including help with managing physical or mental health conditions, coping with stress or anxiety, and workplace adjustments.
- Skills Training: providing courses to develop or refresh skills, digital skills training, and work taster sessions with local employers (some include guaranteed interviews).
- Financial Assistance: Funding is available to remove barriers to work, such as the cost of travel, interview clothing, equipment, or training courses.
- Job Search and Applications: Help identifying suitable vacancies, creating CVs, and preparing for interviews through mock sessions.
- Self-Employment: For those interested in working for themselves, the service provides modules on business planning, bookkeeping, and marketing.
- In-Work Support: Support continues once a person starts a job to ensure they settle in and can sustain their employment.
