Age UK Sheffield is an independent local organisation which supports older people (aged 50 years and over) in Sheffield, particularly those who are vulnerable or isolated. They work to help older people retain their independence and get the most out of life.

Nationally, Age UK aims to improve later life for everyone through their information, advice and services. They have a wide range of information on their national website and also provide a free national information line T: 0800 678 1602 (8am-7pm, 365 days a year).

The service works with people in their own homes, in a variety of group settings around the city, and at Age UK Sheffield’s city centre headquarters. They offer:

Free Information and Advice

Information and advice officers are available on the telephone, Mon to Fri 9am to 4.30pm.  T: 0114 250 2850; E:

Areas they can provide advice on include: benefits, consumer issues, housing, care, debt and money, legal matters.

Free Independent Living Co-ordination

Independent Living Co-ordination (ILC) service is a three-month package of support in which Age UK will help you and your family members to achieve your independence needs – whether that be aids and adaptations for your home, increased benefits where eligible, or connecting you up to local activities and transport.

Free Cancer Support Service

Age UK Sheffield provide free support if you are living with or beyond cancer, or caring for someone with cancer and need a little extra support. This service is delivered in partnership with Weston Park Charity and Macmillan.

At Home Service

The At Home Service provides a flexible, fully trained and DBS checked personal assistant to help you or a loved one with a variety of day to day tasks. There is a charge for this service.

Dementia Wellbeing Centre

A high quality day service with singing, dancing, arts, laughter, and husky dogs, the Dementia Wellbeing Centre is for you. It’s in the Centre in the Park, Norfolk Park, and places are available Monday to Friday, 10.00-3.30. Please be aware, there is a charge for this service.

Dementia Cafes

There are several Dementia Cafes run by Age UK Sheffield across the city. They are free to attend and have been created as a safe, welcoming and enjoyable place.  They are for both people who are experiencing some memory loss, or have a diagnosis of mild to moderate dementia, and their family members, carers and friends who may be feeling a little more isolated than others.

Porter Valley In Touch

Porter Valley In Touch provides friendship and a link to a good social network which can improve health and wellbeing. It can help older people reconnect with family, friends, neighbours and their community. It is provided in partnership with the Porter Valley Primary Care Network and geographical restrictions apply.
