Reach South Sheffield is a charity supporting the social, environmental and economic regeneration of south Sheffield. It primarily works in the communities of Gleadless Valley, Lowedges, Batemoor and Jordanthorpe.

Reach work with people facing significant barriers to education, employment, and living a lifestyle that supports physical and mental wellbeing. They aim to support individuals to build confidence and resilience, so that they can make positive changes for themselves, their families and their communities.

Health & Wellbeing

Reach coordinate a range of activities and services to promote physical and mental wellbeing. These include:

  • The Lunch Club – for people aged 60+ to encourage them to meet people, build relationships and feel more part of their community.
  • The GLOW Youth Group – provides support, advice and guidance to teenage girls on issues which are relevant to them.
  • SORTEDconfidential and supportive sexual health advice for young people aged 13-19.
  • Wednesday Club – is an open access youth group for boys and girls aged 11-18, providing a safe environment to have fun and meet new people.
  • The Fitbus Service – runs twice a week to take people to the local gym and pool.
  • The Health Practitioner Service – provides one-to-one support to encourage people to make positive changes to their lifestyle.
  • Dementia Support Service – aims to improve people’s understanding of Dementia through education and training, and increase the availability of Dementia Friendly activities locally.
  • Live Better: Get Connected – helps tackle isolation and loneliness in people over 50, by getting them connected with their local community.
  • The Herding’s Food Growers project – gets local people working outdoors to grow their own food produce.
  • The Herding’s Makers project – enables local people with joinery and woodworking skills to use these skills to make equipment for the growers project.

Employment and Skills

Reach runs the following projects to support people into work or education:

  • Work Clubs – available by appointment in different locations across south Sheffield. They provide one-to-one support with job searches, improving a CV or creating one from scratch, completing job applications, preparing for job interviews and increasing your confidence after a long period of unemployment.
  • Pathways to Success – a project which supports adults who are unemployed, economically inactive and have multiple, significant and often complex barriers to employment, particularly those with physical or mental health problems, disabilities or behavioural issues.
