South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association (SYEDA)

SYEDA is a regional charity offering advice, information and support to anyone affected by eating disorders (such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Compulsive Overeating, Exercise Dependence and Muscle Dysmorphia). This includes not only sufferers themselves, but carers, families and health professionals.  The service is predominantly for people with mild to moderate eating disorders, although some more severe cases are also seen.  You can self-refer to SYEDA's services.

Their services for people with eating disorders include:

  • Talking Therapies/Counselling
  • Befriending
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Support Groups
  • Library
  • 'Bite Back' drop in at both Sheffield Hallam University and University of Sheffield

Services for carers of people with eating disorders:

  • Support Group for carers, family and friends
  • 'Treading on Eggshells' course
  • Library
  • Talking Therapy for carers
