I need urgent help! What to do in a crisis

Sheffield Light

Sheffield Light is a small charity run by volunteers providing support across Sheffield to families affected by perinatal mental health illnesses, including postnatal depression and anxiety. Light does not offer medical advice, it provides peer to peer support, face to face support, buddying, telephone and email support.  The support they offer covers issues during pregnancy, birth and afterwards.

Sheffield Light provide support in a number of ways:

  • Drop-in Session - they hold drop-in sessions and support groups in Sheffield.
  • Group Support - Light hold support groups at several children's centres in Sheffield. This offers a safe place for mums to come and feel supported by trained volunteers as well as other mums experiencing perinatal mental illness.
  • Telephone and Email Support - Their volunteers can provide text, telephone and email support to mums. They can offer advice, or just a listening ear.

You can self-refer to this service.
