SARAS (Sheffield Area Refuge and Support)

SARAS offer a safe, supportive space for women and their children to live after leaving abusive relationships.

You can contact SARAS if you are a woman (16 years+) with or without dependent children. The service accepts women with dependent sons and daughters of all ages. SARAS can support you regardless of your sexual orientation, ethnicity or nationality. If you have a disability please contact SARAS to see if they can meet your needs. The service is accessible to women who have complex needs, such as drug or alcohol misuse issues and/or mental health support needs as long as those needs can be safely met in the accommodation available.

SARAS currently has two sites in the city, and the service can offer support to single women or families for a period of up to 6 months during which time they will help them to move on into independent living.  All the refuges are confidential addresses and have a range of security measures in place to help to keep you safe e.g. CCTV, door entry systems. You do not have to share a bedroom with another family and you do not have to leave your room or the refuge during the day.
