Healthwatch is the consumer champion to give adults, children and young people a powerful voice about health (e.g. GPs, dentists, opticians and pharmacies) and social care services (e.g. residential homes, personal budgets and care at home services etc). Healthwatch Sheffield works with local people to improve health and social care services and help people to get the best out of those services. They are completely independent and not part of the NHS or Sheffield City Council.
They can help you by:
- getting your views on health and social care heard in the city, so you can help to make improvements
- providing advice and information about local services that might be useful for you, or a relative/friend
- ensuring that everybody in the city is able to be involved, by building a wide range of networks and activities
They also incorporate Young Healthwatch which is for anyone age 14-25 years. It provides young people with the opportunity to be heard and to help influence local health and social care services.
