Eating Disorders Service
Sheffield Eating Disorders Service is a community based specialist out patient service, providing assessment and psychologically based interventions to those with severe eating disorders.
Referrals into the service are via GP, secondary services or South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association (SYEDA).
They offer a range of tailored treatment packages which include individual and group therapy, dietetic support, and a more intensive day service option. They work together with other agencies such as GPs and Community Mental Health Teams. Where required, they also organise access to appropriate inpatient services.
Support for Carers
At assessment clients are asked whether there is a carer involved (e.g. a partner, parent or friend) in helping them on an ongoing basis. Where appropriate they offer carers' assessments and work in collaboration with the South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association (SYEDA) who provide easily accessible support groups for carers of people with an eating disorder.
