Cruse Bereavement Care

Cruse Bereavement Care provides support to people who have been bereaved, Cruse is a national organisation with local branches, they provide the following services:

  • telephone support
  • face to face counselling (individual counselling is by appointment, as well as home visits by arrangement)
  • Stepping Stones, a bereavement support group that meets on alternate Tuesdays at 2.00pm (please contact them before attending)
  • training courses in bereavement counselling
  • Hope Again is a website run by Cruse for young people who have been bereaved.

Self referral for people aged 16+. Children and young people under 16 can be referred by a parent or carer, with signed consent.

National Helpline (telephone & email)

The Cruse National Helpline is staffed by trained bereavement support volunteers, who offer emotional support to anyone affected by a bereavement. Their volunteers are there to help you talk things through. They can also help you find your local Cruse service, or signpost you to support groups, financial advice, and other useful sources of information.

The telephone helpline is open Monday and Friday 9.30-5pm. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.30-8pm.

Cruse has an email support service, you can write to them and one of their bereavement support volunteers will respond. As with their telephone helpline, their email service offers emotional support, details of Cruse local services, and signposting to other useful organisations.
