Age Better Sheffield
Age Better in Sheffield is a £6 investment programme funded by The Big Lottery and led by South Yorkshire Housing Association. Their aim is to reduce loneliness and isolation in people over 50. They co-produce and co-deliver lots of different projects with different partners across the city including: Sheffield Mind, Sheffield Cubed and many more. These projects help to engage older people and bring them together as a volunteer or a participant.
Opportunities provided include:
- Access Ambassadors: if you or someone you know needs a bit of help or confidence getting out and about
- Age Better Champions: sometimes it’s helpful to speak to someone else who has had a similar experience to you
- Wellbeing Practitioners: free, professional counselling and therapeutic services delivered by Sheffield Mind for people over 50. They can come to your home or wherever you feel most comfortable
- Peer Mentoring Project: If you’re about to go through a significant life event such as retirement or caring for a loved one, why not speak to one of our Peer Mentors as a sounding board to support you through the next stage
