Adult Liaison Psychiatry Service
The service provides mental health assessment and care to patients of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals who are between the ages of 16 and 64 (except Jessop Wing which is served by The Perinatal Mental Health Service). Sheffield Teaching Hospitals refer patients who:
- Have diagnosed or suspected mental health problems and who need additional help during their hospital stay
- Have psychological difficulties as a consequence of a physical illness
- Have self harmed or are expressing suicidal ideas/plans.
Liaison Psychiatry usually sees people who are inpatients within the hospitals or who attend the Accident and Emergency Department but also provides a service to some people who attend regular outpatient clinics within the hospitals.
Referrals from Sheffield Teaching Hospitals only. The service is open Monday to Friday 7am-9pm (A&E Service) Monday to Friday 9am-5pm (service for in-patients and out-patients) Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm (Registered Mental Health Nurse input to A&E).
